Taking the Right Path

Profile: Robert W. Freese
Superior Court Judge

I received two job offers
after graduating from Law School, one offered a set salary and a downtown office and the other offered no guarantee of work or income but free parking and a promise from a friend to have a good time. I opted for the free parking and the good time and have never looked back.

Hendricks Superior Court #1.

I worked at that practice for ten happy years. During that span, I was fortunate to help a lot of people, make a little money, and most importantly have a great time doing it.

In 1995, I was presented with the opportunity to become the Chief Deputy Prosecutor in Danville and decided it was time for a change of direction with my career. I started off as a public defender, six years matter of fact.

That led me to the prosecutor’s office, where I stayed for another six years. My entire career has been leading up to my current role as judge of the Hendricks Superior Court #1. Currently, I am serving my first 6-year term and it is my intent that the road will continue on to a second 6-year term.

Throughout my career
I have been very involved with the Indiana State Bar Association. Prior to being elected judge, I was a member of the House of Delegates and even taught a few continuing legal education classes for the Association. My membership goes all the way back to when I was first sworn in. Membership has served me well in many aspects of my personal and professional life.

Not only has the State Bar Association been a great outlet for me to become involved but it has also given me the opportunity to network with other attorneys throughout the state. Many of these people, I would not see for a whole year or so, but if I needed to contact one of them regarding a case, I knew I could. I feel this sense of community is very important.

In addition to the networking,
I have realized I have paid for my ISBA membership many times over just by the savings I've gained by having my professional and personal insurance with them.

Over the years, I have had a couple of claims, and they were handled very quickly. They make it very easy whenever I have to change coverage for my kids, by adding another driver, which saves me time. I think it’s a great value for the members. Just like never looking back after taking my first job, the same goes for switching my insurance coverage.

When I think about my path
in life, I remember always wanting to be a lawyer. Why? I do not have a clue. I guess the whole legal field just has always fascinated me. I like it mostly because it gives you a sense of accomplishment and a feeling of pride that you are delivering a service to those in need. I like being able to help people with their problems. I find this career path to be very rewarding because you are able to give a little back to society.

The hardest part about making an important decision is to first take the time to weigh all of your personal options. If you can never seem to find time to do your own coverage research, perhaps a better choice is to have someone else explore all the options for you!

After I review your current personal insurance coverage, I may recommend that you need only raise your deductible to lower your monthly expense - but that isn’t always the case.

To discover if your personal insurance is the best coverage for you is to first download our simple auto/home qualification form and then fax back to me at (317) 471-1700.
